'Tis the season

It's Christmas! SQUEE!!!

So yeah, thanks to Jacob Gristlewood fro the awesome guest comic. Just a quick update on what's gonna be happening in the near future. At some point in the next few months, I may or may not be going into details about the Chicago Incident. First I have to dig through my notebook to find the page it was on. I have, like, a folder with all my ideas in it. It's so disorganized, a tornado would actually make it less confusing to read through.

That most wonderful...

Well, friends, it's that time of year again...

No, not Christmas; the time when they announce the next installment of the Saw franchise, also known as the franchise that wouldn't die. I mean seriously, we should re-classify it a vampire movie- each time we think it's dead, it just keeps coming back!

And now that that's out of the way, onto yet another rant!

So if you've been paying attention lately (or even if you haven't) most likely you'll have heard about Microsoft's newest gaming "revolution," the X-Box Kinect. Fairly cool premise; you move, your avatar on the screen moves. You jump, it jumps; you run, it runs, etc, etc.

'But Nathan,' I hear you saying, 'didn't Nintendo already do that with the Wii?'

Well, yes and no. Y'see, the Wii came out with its revolutionary motion sensors and its new style of gaming and its get-fit-while-you-play thing, and it had the whole market cornered there for a while. Now Microsoft comes out with this, and suddenly there's two of this style of thing out there, and everyone is in uproar about how it's pretty much the same thing. This is hilarious, and it will continue to happen until people stop, think about this, and then realize that the gaming industry is very similar to the fast food industry. First one big company (*COUGH*McDonalds*COUGH*) comes out with a new idea, and then another big company (*COUGH*HungryJacks/BurgerKing*COUGH*) will think 'Hey, that's a great idea,' and will then procede to release what is essentially the same burger sorry, Gaming System. So yes, the Wii did, in effect, have the idea before the Kinect.

Now I see all you people out there are a little puzzled. You're thinking "Nathan, you've told us the yes, but what about the No you promised us?" Well calm down, I'm getting to that. Y'see, back in 2002, a little company named Sony was going pretty well with their current system, the Playstation 2. Maybe you've heard of it? No? Well anyway, they released what was essentially a webcam for this system. The name of this webcam-esque system? The_Eyetoy. Now what the Eyetoy would do, was allow the user to set up said camera, which would then put you up on the screen, into the game.

Sound Familiar?

Apparently the blogs need titles now...

So I finally got around to watching the Tekken movie (some of you may remember I mentioned I was excited about seeing it a while back) and I'm happy to say it surpassed my (albeit low) expectations. So that adds another movie to the very short list of movies based on computer games that haven't attempted to utterly destroy my childhood. That makes two, maybe three of them... seriously, the movie industry hates gamers.

I return

WOO! BLOG!

Ahem

Anyway, I realize that this space has been unattended for quite some time now, which is a fact which I intend to remedy (Actual results may vary). This has been mainly because I've been finishing off my TAFE course, so have been really busy, and (as you may have noticed) I've been struggling to even get the comics up on time. Now I'll be looking to get a job pretty soon, but hopefully this shouldn't affect posting too much. We shall see...
